Each mL contains 200 mg ceftiofur equivalents (as ceftiofur crystalline free acid).

EXCEDE 200 sterile suspension is a ready-to-use formulation that contains ceftiofur crystalline free acid. Ceftiofur crystalline free acid is a broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria including β-lactamase-producing strains. Like other cephalosporins, ceftiofur is bactericidal, in vitro, resulting from inhibition of cell wall synthesis.

EXCEDE® is for the control and treatment of respiratory disease in beef cattle that are at high risk of developing BRD associated with Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni. EXCEDE is also approved for the treatment of bovine foot rot (interdigital necrobacillosis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Porphyromonas levii. Cattle: Treatment and control of BRD: -Delivers up to seven days of BRD therapy in a single dose. -Controls and treats three major bacterial pathogens associated with BRD. -A single-dose treatment protocol can improve antimicrobial treatment compliance. -Offers the convenience of a short 13-day meat withdrawal. Treatment of bovine foot rot: -Treats two pathogens associated with bovine foot rot. -Treatment of acute metritis. Horses: For IM injction. For the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible strains of S.coccus equi ssp. Zooepidemicus.

A unique base-of-ear site of administration with EXCEDE® contributes to better carcass quality. For BRD and foot rot, administer EXCEDE as a single subcutaneous injection in the ear using one of three base-of-ear (BOE) administration methods at a dose of 1.5 mL per 100-pound body weight. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

People with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporins should avoid exposure to EXCEDE. EXCEDE is contraindicated in animals with known allergy to ceftiofur or to the ß-lactam group (penicillins and cephalosporins) of antimicrobials. Inadvertent intra-arterial injection is possible and fatal. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal. Pre-slaughter withdrawal time is 13 days following the last dose.

Cattle: Intra-arterial injection may accur during Excede administration, which is likely to result in sudden death of the animal. Horses: Immediate onset of seizures or collapse in horses has been reported following Excede administration.
